Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu has declared January 23 and 24, 2023, as public holidays in the state so that voters can pick up their permanent voter cards in advance of the upcoming elections.
This was said in a statement released on Saturday and signed by Chris Ezem, Secretary to the State Government.
The governor issued a directive ordering the closure of all public buildings and marketplaces, and he urged citizens to take advantage of the time to attend to the offices or collecting centers of the Independent National Electoral Commission to pick up their PVCs.
“The executives of the various markets in the state are directed to ensure strict compliance on the closure of their various markets or be prepared to face appropriate sanctions.
“Banks and those on essential duties are not affected by this directive,” the statement added.
