AEDC Staffs Are Tampering With Prepaid Meters To Frame Innocent People By Accusing Them Of Bypassing Meters So As To Levy Them Huge Sums — Abuja-Based Lady Cries Out

An Abuja-based lady has decried the corruption tendencies of staffs of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

The lady with name, Omoh Osigbhemhe Omokpo took to her Facebook page to narrate how the AEDC staffs will come to users houses with the pretext of checking for irregularities, then tamper with the prepaid meters, with the aim of dubiously accusing the unsuspecting customers of bypassing their meters.

Their intention according to her, is to impose levies on the innocent occupants of the house.

The lady gave an instance of how they tried to rope her in to the nefarious act but she was smart enough to counter their dubious intentions.

She further advised residents to be at alert anytime the electricity company officials visit them to check for irregularities.

“Some hungry and dubious AEDC staff are going round houses to tamper with prepaid meters under the guise of checking for irregularities,they are framing innocent people of bypassing their meters and without proof,they levy huge amount on the unsuspecting occupant.

“I almost became a victim last week,when they visited my flat and claimed I bypassed my meter,how? They were 5 of them and when I started bombarding them with questions and threatening to alert the neighbors,they became afraid and left immediately… Some persons haven’t been that lucky,others have been made to part with huge amount of monies and in some cases,their meters are seized or disconnected because of these bypassing claims.

“The next time,AEDC staff visit your compound,first ask them to identify themselves then make sure you interrogate them before allowing them access to your meter and while they are at it,shine your eyes and look out for unnecessary press here ,press there on your meter. They are threatened if they know you are very informed and enlightened,they will chicken out immediately and leave your meter but the instance they notice you are lily livered,them go open boutique for your head that day.

Another lady with the name Stella Alliu corroborated her claim in the comment section when she wrote:

“Really it happened to me ooo my hubby paid 150k in August.That we did bypass they switched off our meter n all our gadgets were still on n they said it was bypass. So hubby asked them that where is d money we’ve been recharging going to monthly..they told hubby that if d issue gets to d office he will pay 700k.. i wish i got this info early enough…Well others will benefit from it. Thanks sis for sharing..”.

Bifotad Media calls on the management of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to investigate this claim and bring the culpable staffs to justice.
