If elected President, Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has pledged to cut unemployment in half.

In his first four years as president, the country’s unemployment rate will be cut in half, he claims.

At a rally for his presidential campaign on Tuesday at the U.J. Esuene Sports Stadium in Calabar, Tinubu made the promise to party members and supporters.

He said “I will check youth unemployment in this country. I will reduce it by more than half if voted into power next month.”

Speaking of other initiatives he has planned, the APC presidential candidate said that if elected president, Nigerian cities and towns will experience a level of industrial activity that has never occurred in the nation’s history. He added that young people will play a key role in catalyzing the country’s economic revival.

In addition, Tinubu promised to exert all of his efforts to restore the country’s fortunes and bring Nigeria to its proper level of prosperity.

He advanced that “Our economy is unhelpfully designed to export raw materials and import increasingly expensive finished products.

“Crude oil still provides most of our foreign exchange. As agriculture remains our traditional backbone, we will continue to consolidate it.

“However, we must acknowledge the growing importance of our urban population.”

Additionally, it was reported that the APC candidate promised to change how federal and state governments split their resources to offer states greater freedom to promote grassroots development.

“Our government will give priority to encouraging industries vital to national development by growing our industrial base to provide jobs to an expanding urban population,” he added.
