The ARISE TV Presidential debate for Nigeria’s Presidential candidates held yesterday got heated as Labour Party (LP) presidential flagbearer, Peter Obi publicly expressed his anger and said enough is enough to the alleged tantrums of PDP’s scribe, Dino Melaye.
The debate dubbed the ‘presidential town hall meeting’ was organised By Arise TV on Sunday night, November 6, 2022.
The debate had in attendance Peter Obi himself, Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa and others. The PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar and that of the APC, Bola Tinubu were notably absent.
During the event, one of the attendees stoop up to direct a question at the presidential candidates, with former Senator of Kogi West, Dino Melaye saying in the process ” Na wa o, Obi people’.
His statement infuriated Obi who was seated at the event, as he lost his cool and snapped at him.
A visibly annoyed Obi retorted:
“Stop that Dino. Why are you always calling me? I won’t take that. This man is from ANPP. I have taken enough from you here. Stop that, Why are you calling him Obi people?”.

Meanwhile, the APC Presidential Campaign Council has given reasons why it’s Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu was absent at the ARISE TV debate.
The APC PCC Director of Public Affairs, Festus Keyamo said Tinubu would not want to make selective appearances in some networks as many radio and TV networks have indicated interests in holding such debates.
He also said the busy and hectic campaigns of Tinubu would not “permit him to honour all such invitations by different radio and TV networks”.
Part of the statement reads:
“Many radio and TV networks in Nigeria have indicated interests to host such debates and out of deference to other TV and radio stations, our candidate will not be making selective appearances in some networks, whilst ignoring others. As President of Nigeria, by the Special Grace of God, he intends to treat all persons and businesses fairly and equally.”
“The busy and hectic campaign schedules of Asiwaju Tinubu will not permit him to honour all such invitations by different radio and TV networks, hence our decision for him not to start with one TV station and later ignore others.”
